Unexpected Birth

Working in the ED is not without its own source of entertainment. From drunks to drug addicts, to patients with actual medical illnesses and emergencies – there are plenty of cases to learn from.

A 20 year old girl attended ED with abdominal pains. She had just found out she was 39 weeks pregnant the other day. She screamed for help in the bathroom, not knowing she was actually in labor.

Nurse: Congrats, it’s a beautiful baby boy!

Boyfriend: If that baby’s term, it ain’t mine.

It was a full term, healthy baby boy…

New Year, Same Old Me

I don’t really have much to say at all. I just feel I should use this space more often.

So what’s happening lately?

  • I’m starting a set of nights today… Only they didn’t have cover from 17:00-21:00 tonight, so I’m doing a 17:00-9:00 shift today
  • Meeting my supervisor in the morning to go over the craptastic ePortfolio, which is a piece of shit way of documenting your work throughout training so that you can “graduate” when the time comes
  • Flying out in a week – to Canada – I can’t wait!
  • I’m getting close to reaching my personal goal of having reduced my educational debts to half. Yes, HALF! This is something else I can’t wait for!
  • I must work on my to-do list… it’s just so hard to get started
  • I’ve slowly created another locum wishlist… this is pretty and expensive toys I want but should not dip into my regular budget for, therefore I work extra shifts to afford extra things
  • Recently I’ve extended my domain name subscriptions and hosting… I can’t remember was I was paying before but I feel like prices have skyrocketed! And I didn’t have the lovely option of paying for a domain name for 10 years in advance like I have with others.

I think that’s it. I had started making a theme a few years ago… It’s still sitting on my desktop with a few PHP kinks I need to work out. At this rate, I don’t even know what’s new in the world of PHP so my theme may be completely outdated… I’ve got an exam coming up in April/May, but maybe after that I can start coding again.

New Year 2017

Happy New Years to all! The holidays are now slowly winding down. Back to work tomorrow. Back to life in less than 24 hours. I picked up a few extra shifts Christmas Day and Boxing Day but kept my NYE work-free. It felt good.

But I can’t wait to get back to the grind.

Can you?

8 More Sleeps Until Christmas

christmas_holly_iconChristmas is now just around the corner! I’ve also started my new post and am now driving to work each day. To be honest, I was dreading driving on the wrong side of the road, but it’s really not so bad. I think having lived in the country for a while, you get used to looking right instead of left when crossing the road and driving comes with that same instinct.

Vince and I have started our fair share of buying Christmas gifts for one another as well. We always agree on nothing extreme, but small things we’ve been wanting here and there.

christmas_jumper_sweaterIn other news, we are joining the ugly Christmas sweater (or jumper as they call it her) bandwagon. Only I quite like the sweaters we bought. I’ll have to remember to take some pictures to post on here later on.

I’ve just renewed this website for another two years. I feel bad for constantly pummeling money into hosting and domain names, but I really can’t bear to part with this. And I’m also hopeful that I will eventually find a blogging niche. I don’t even think anyone pops by to read anything I write currently, so this really is just my own little space on the interwebz at the moment.

Anyway, I’m on nights this weekend, so I’m off to nap before work!
